Getting Started as a Freelancer
Complete the onboarding wizard to start receiving client requests.
Onboarding Steps
1. Basic Information (Required)
- Avatar - Professional photo
- Headline - Your role (e.g., "Motion Designer")
- Location - Sets your timezone
- Bio - Brief introduction
- Years of Experience - Career level
2. Portfolio Links (Optional)
Add your work:
- Website, demo reel, LinkedIn, Behance
3. Industries (Required)
Select industries you work in:
- Advertising, Film/TV, Tech, Gaming, etc.
- Helps clients find you for relevant projects
4. Software Skills (Required)
Add tools you use:
- After Effects, Cinema 4D, Houdini, etc.
- Organize by proficiency level (Beginner → Expert)
- Use the Skills Manager to drag and drop
5. Specialized Skills (Required)
Your unique capabilities:
- Character Animation, Fluid Sims, Compositing, etc.
- Set proficiency levels
6. Rates & Hours (Required)
Day Rate - Your standard daily rate Currency - USD, EUR, GBP, etc. Rate Visibility - How clients see your rates:
- Exact - Show exact rate
- Range - Show min/max
- Starting At - Show "Starting at $X"
- Hidden - Keep private
Work Hours - Default start/end times
7. Make Profile Public (Required)
- On - Appear in client searches
- Off - Private (invoicing only)
8. Billing Information (Optional)
For professional invoices:
- Company name, address, tax ID
- Logo (appears on invoices)
- Bank details (secure, encrypted)
After Onboarding
Your Overview page shows:
- Upcoming bookings
- Active holds
- Pending invoices
- Monthly earnings
Edit any setting later in Settings (/profile).
Next Steps
- Set your availability on the calendar
- Wait for hold requests from clients
- Accept or negotiate incoming holds
- Create invoices after completing work
